CDHB Refuses Mediation On Clinical Records Action

CDHB Refuses Mediation On Clinical Records Action

“The CDHB has refused to go to mediation with Clinical Records staff at Christchurch Hospital who began a health and safety ‘strike’ this morning Wednesday (1 December),” said Martin Cooney, Organiser of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.

“Clinical Records staff have been forced to take the action below to protect their health and safety under Section 84 of the ERA and to deal with the impact of the cutting of 12 positions in the Clinical Records Department (CRD),” said Martin Cooney, Organiser of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.

Mr Cooney said that the list of action was as follows:

Limit of one trolley per staff member per day of filing

No answering other staff phones

No urgent deliveries

No training new staff

Sort for two hours, sit and make up notes for two hours

One duty only per staff member

Front desk will not do liaison work

Front desk will not do urgent “To Views”.

Night shift will not walk out of hours to get notes from 45 St Asaph St, Dental, Diabetes when security is not available.

“NUPE finds it hard to understand why the CDHB does not want to resolve this through mediation which we requested over a week ago,” said Martin Cooney. “The longer the above tasks are not done, the more likely the health and safety action will impact on patient services.”
