Army Marks Another Step Toward Modernisation

On Friday November 19, 2004, New Zealand's Army will mark the completion of another significant step in our modernisation with the formal withdrawal from service of the venerable M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).

Queen Alexandra's Squadron, Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps, will formally handover the capability previously met by M113, to 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, who now have their first Motorised Company fully trained on New Zealand Light Armoured Vehicle (NZLAV), having completed both individual crew and company collective training.

This event will be marked with a vehicle-mounted parade at Linton Military Camp near Palmerston North, commencing at 2.00pm. The parade will include both M113 and NZLAV.
