Support For Better Conditions For Doctors
“The National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) supports Resident Doctors in their bid to improve their employment conditions,” said NUPE spokesman Janice Gemmell.
“All health workers endorse the Resident Doctors campaign just as we support the nurses’ campaign for fair pay” said Janice Gemmell. “When working with these clinicians, our members see how hard and what long hours they work.”
“NUPE is campaigning for a better deal for all health professionals and support staff. NUPE believes all health workers have been significantly undervalued for years and we believe the time is long overdue for the people who keep our health system running to receive significant improvements to their pay and conditions,” said Janice Gemmell.
“The reality of modern health care is that doctors and nurses work alongside a number of allied health professionals in multi disciplinary teams and are in turn backed up by administrative and support staff such as ward clerks, telephonists, cleaners and orderlies. All of these workers deserve a better deal,” said Janice Gemmell.
“Our members are being sent instructions about how to support doctors and nurses if they take strike action. Under the law they can not be forced to undertake work that would have been done by someone on strike, unless there are health and safety concerns,” said Janice Gemmell
