NZ Army Hosts International Military Reserves Conference
Senior military staff from Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America have been in New Zealand this week attending the Chief of Reserve Forces Conference, which ended today.
Held annually, the New Zealand Army hosted the conference this year in Wellington, with the final two days spent in Waiouru and Auckland.
Brigadier Ken Foote, NZ Army's Territorial Force Advisor, who chaired the conference said, "It has been a useful way for the five nations to discuss and share information on the strategic issues affecting the use of reserve forces."
The role of reserves (also known as the Territorial Force in New Zealand) has become an increasingly important issue for all the nations who attended the conference as traditional roles are being examined and ways to better utilise part time military staff are being developed.
