Tina Nixon Seeks To Take Fight To Labour In Invercargill
Fifth-generation Southlander Tina Nixon is to seek the National Party nomination for Invercargill, promising to take the
fight to the Labour Party.
“There is a demand for change in Southland,” Tina Nixon said. “People see Helen Clark’s Government as a
politically-correct clique that is out of touch with Southlanders. Don Brash is the next Prime Minister of New Zealand
and we need to ensure Invercargill becomes the National Party seat that, at heart, it has always been.”
Tina Nixon was born, bred and educated in Invercargill, and is moving her business to Invercargill after six years in
Wellington working for the last National Government and for public and private sector clients since 1999.
“Invercargill needs a National Party MP with a long history of commitment to the city, who can promote the Southland
region and its interests in Parliament,” she said “I have been approached by many National Party people in Southland and
elsewhere who believe I am the best person to be that National Party MP.”
Tina Nixon said the campaign for the National Party nomination had to be about one thing – “which National Party member
in our region is best to help replace Helen Clark with Don Brash and make Invercargill National again”.
Tina Nixon is a former senior journalist for the Southland Times, a former prison social worker at Invercargill Medium
Security Prison and a proud member of Ngai Tahu.
“In Don Brash, New Zealand finally has a leader with the courage to stand up against the political-correctness that
masquerades as helping Maori, and Labour’s soft approach to law and order that puts people on the path of crime, doing
them nearly as much harm as their future victims. Successful or unsuccessful in this nomination race, I am looking
forward to working with Don and the National Party team to smash a Labour Government that is taking Southland and New
Zealand down the drain.”
