Venezuela's ambassador to Australia to visit Wgtn

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela's ambassador to Australia is coming to Wellington to spread the message of the revolution occurring in his home country.

Leonel Vivas described what's happening in his country at a meeting in Australia "a struggle of the past against the future, and against hope." He said the revolution was "a struggle waged by those who have traditionally been privileged against those who have always been socially excluded. It is a struggle of ignominy against dignity, a battle for the rights of the peoples of our America. President Chavez and his revolutionary movement are the result of this struggle.”

President Chavez won a crucial referendum on August 15th in Venezuela by 58-42 percent. International election observers have confirmed that the elections were fair, have temporarily silenced opposition factions who have already tried to unseat Chavez through a coup in 2002.

There will be a public reception for the ambassador at 7pm on Saturday September 25 at the St Johns Hall, Cnr of Willis and Dixon Sts.

The meeting is sponsored by The Alliance Party and supported by other Wellington peace and justice groups. Unwaged: koha, waged: $5
