Destiny NZ 'Taking The Hard Line On Organised Crime' - Gisborne

Crime, education and families were key topics presented at Saturday's Destiny NZ political meeting held at Gisborne Girls High School in Gisborne. Destiny NZ leader, Richard Lewis, said the present Government was not taking organized crime and drug offending seriously, but that it was a top priority of Destiny NZ policy.

"We know that cannabis is a real issue in this area, and it is crippling the potential of our young people and children. It is time to take the hard line with organized crime and drug dealers - this is a top priority of Destiny NZ policy. Ultimately, crime prevention strategies must be underpinned by a national strategy to strengthen families, where a healthy respect for self, people and property begins," he said.

Spokesperson for Education, Anne Williamson, presented an overview of the party's education policy. "The one size fits all approach of our current education system is failing too many students. Parents and teachers must identify the raw gifts and talents in our children so that their pathway through education is shaped with purpose and intent. We have a vision for young entrepreneur colleges and sporting academies to provide powerful educational pathways tailored to the students inherent gifts", she said.

This week Destiny NZ will be on site at the national Field Days at Mystery Creek in Hamilton. Its next public meeting will be held in Auckland on Saturday 3rd July.
