When will Clark learn?

When will Clark learn?

From: Peace Action Wellington

Reports that a New Zealander working in Tikrit, Iraq was shot and killed exposes the flawed basis for New Zealand Defence Force engineers doing reconstruction work.

'Helen Clark and Mark Burton have said repeatedly that New Zealand is not part of the army of occupation. But no matter what they say, the Iraqi people clearly do see New Zealanders, or any foreign workers, as part of the occupation. The NZDF must get out now.' said Peace Action Wellington member Valerie Morse

As Clark delivered a counter-terrorism speech to the Pacific Island Roundtable in Wellington on Monday evening, concerned citizens outside met her with the shocking images of systematic torture being carried out by coalition forces in Iraq.

'The message we want to give to Helen Clark is that if she really wants to stop terrorism, she should stop participating in it by recalling the SAS and the NZDF from Iraq and Afghanistan where there is overwhelming evidence that people are being terrorised by the Coalition.'

Peace Action Wellington demands an immediate and unconditional end to the so-called 'War on Terror.'
