Destiny New Zealand’s “Power in the Home” Tour - Hamilton and Whakatane

Political party, Destiny New Zealand, is presenting an overview of its policies throughout parts of central North Island this weekend. Top of the agenda are its family, economic, education and Treaty of Waitangi policies.

Destiny New Zealand leader Richard Lewis outlined the party’s key strategies in Hamilton last night, and introduced their Piako delegate Colin Ranby. Education spokesperson, Anne Williamson and economics spokesperson, David Jesze also presented policies to the nearly 200 attendees.

Launched last July, Destiny New Zealand has built up a significant support base and plans to stand candidates in many electorates throughout the country at next year’s election.

The party has already held public meetings this year in Kaitaia, Whangarei, New Plymouth and Taumarunui. Other meetings will be held soon in Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Wanganui and Dunedin with one in Whakatane today.

“As a new political party, one of our main focuses is to be proactive and establish a presence amongst ordinary New Zealanders face to face,” says Lewis. “One of the key messages we are emphasising is our family policy. The success of our nation will be determined by the design, health and prosperity of our families. This is critical because marriage-centred families provide the best possible environment for raising children. A responsible Government would make families a priority.”

Lewis is of Maori and English descent with strong family connections to the Ngati Awa iwi in the Bay of Plenty. He is looking forward to presenting the message of Destiny New Zealand in Whakatane this evening.

“Of particular interest in the area will be Destiny New Zealand’s view on the Treaty of Waitangi,” says Lewis. “Destiny New Zealand’s policy recognises the Treaty is a significant founding document that the crown has an obligation to honor.”
