International Day of Action – Saturday March 20th
All Foreign Troops out of Iraq
International Day of Action – March 20th
Global Peace and Justice Auckland have organised a protest this Saturday as part of an International Day of Action to call for all foreign troops to be withdrawn from Iraq and Afghanistan. Other centres around New Zealand and across the world will be holding similar events.
The New Zealand government is the target of the Auckland protest. Helen Clark has tied New Zealand to the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq as well as providing troops for the so-called “war on terror” in Afghanistan.
The Auckland event will call on the Prime Minister to abandon plans to send more troops to Afghanistan, withdraw our troops from Iraq and withdraw our frigates from the Gulf region.
That we should support the US in this area of the world is unconscionable.
The US government is up to its neck in blood. Up to 55,000 Iraqi civilians have now met their deaths at the hands of the illegal occupiers of Iraq. Moreover the US government contempt for democracy and human rights has been spelt our again most recently in its economic destabilisation and military overthrow of the Aristide government in Haiti and its on-going efforts to topple the Venezuelan government.
Decent people and decent countries have no role supporting this most dangerous threat to world peace. New Zealand troops must come home.
The Auckland March
will leave from the bottom of Queen Street at
12noon.
