False and misleading information from NZ First

False and misleading information from NZ First Party

In a press release from the NZ First Party on Monday 1 December 2003 at 12:48pm headed “Deliver The Mail Treen Says Peters”, the NZ First Party made false and/or misleading statements.

The truths are: - The Postal Workers Association is not linked to the Labour Party, or to any other political party.

- The PWA’s Organiser, Mike Treen, does not deliver mail as part of his job.

- Mr Treen acted under instructions from the PWA executive to issue a media release early today (1 December 2003).

- The initiative to question the legality of a NZ First household circular, and to issue a media release to that effect, came from the union’s members (i.e. posties), not from Mr Treen.

The PWA is disappointed that NZ First leader Winston Peters has chosen to launch a personal attack, based on falsehoods, against a union employee who is dutifully following instructions and performing his job.
