Capacity Building Evaluation

Te Puni Kökiri today released its Capacity Building programme evaluation reports. Chief Executive Leith Comer said the findings of the evaluation indicate that overall the programme is achieving its objectives.

The evaluation also shows that all röpü involved in the evaluation were able to identify the gains made to their capacity as a result of their participation in the Capacity Building programme.

Particular gains were evident in the areas of governance and the roles and responsibilities of those involved in governance, organisational management, organisational processes, structures and systems, leadership and financial management, and accountability.

Mr Comer said the overall picture was very good, and the benefits gained from implementing the programme far exceeded the costs.

He said certain areas were identified in the report that would enhance the effectiveness of the programme and Te Puni Kökiri had already moved to further improve its delivery in those areas.

Mr Comer thanked all the röpu that contributed to the evaluation.

"It is important that evaluations are undertaken so we can further develop and improve the design and delivery of our policies and programmes. I recognise that this activity does take considerable effort, and I sincerely thank all those people who contributed to this evaluation. In particular I thank the many röpu engaged in Capacity Building activities, the external evaluation team and also Te Puni Kökiri staff who carried out the evaluation."
