Army’s Biggest Exercise For 2003

Exercise Silver Fern is the largest land based exercise conducted this year and will provide the greatest concentration of soldiers and current NZ Army capabilities since Exercise Port Republic was conducted in the South Island earlier this year.

The exercise is being conducted in Waiouru from 27 Oct through to 11 Nov 2003 and will involve approximately 1300 Army and Air Force personnel. Exercise Silver Fern represents a significant training activity and includes infantry, armour, artillery and supporting arms and logistics.

Media are invited to attend a media day on Monday November 03, 2003 in Waiouru. This will include an opportunity to view and interview soldiers involved with a live firing combat team attack combining infantry, armour, mortars and artillery.
