Paakiwaha Special

Paakiwaha Special

Listen to the Labour Day (27th October 2003) Paakiwaha special- an exciting selection of interviews from the last three months’ programmes. Paakiwaha is a weekly current affairs show with a Maori perspective and is hosted by Willie Jackson and broadcasted by Radio Waatea with funding from New Zealand on Air.

First up is Willie’s interview with Opposition Leader Bill English about the foreshore & seabed issue followed by Wira Gardiner’s summation of the Government’s foreshore’s hui.

Next is Tom Harrison (Mayor of Marlborough District Council) whom the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael Cullen accused of being a racist. In August we learned of Derek Fox’s resignation from Maori Television and top Maori producer Claudette Hauiti gives her view on his departure.

Maori literary giant- Patricia Grace talks about her career, whanau and her foray into indigenous erotic writing; Act MP Stephen Franks criticizes Justice Sian Elias and her Court of Appeal decision; Merepeka Raukawa Tait explains why Wairarapa is a haven for criminal behaviour; new MP Moana Mackey introduces herself and finally broadcaster and fringe dweller, Lyndsay Perigo gives his take on Maori and the media. So tune in to an exciting, debate packed, smorgasbord of Maori radio interviews at their best!

Radio Waatea (603AM) in Auckland, Mondays 10am-12pm Te Upoko o Te Ika (1161AM) in Wellington, Mondays 4-6pm
