Child Youth and Family to Issue Aplin Jetson Report with Commissioner’s
The Department of Child Youth and Family Services will issue its report into the events surrounding the deaths of Masterton children Olympia Jetson and Saliel Aplin at the same time the Commissioner for Children issues his.
Both organisations had planned to issue their reports this week but the Commissioner decided to delay his to provide an opportunity for people named in the report to comment.
“We originally agreed to release both reports together, primarily to reduce the stress for the family,” CYF Chief Executive Jackie Pivac said. “We still believe that is appropriate.
“In addition we can’t fully complete our report until we have had the opportunity to respond to some of the Commissioner’s recommendations. “
At this stage the Commissioner has indicated it will be about a month before he will be ready to release his report.
