Revised Dangerous Goods Rule released for comment
The Land Transport Safety Authority is seeking public comment on proposed revisions to the rules for the carriage of dangerous goods over land in New Zealand.
A revised draft of the Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods amends the 1999 Dangerous Goods Rule in order to ensure that New Zealand remains in line with international standards.
In New Zealand, dangerous goods are classified for transport in accordance with the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Model Regulations (UNRTDG). The current revisions to New Zealand's rules are being made in order to reflect changes made in the UN regulations, and to ensure that uniformity with international maritime and aviation codes for the transport of dangerous goods is maintained.
The proposals in the revised Dangerous Goods Rule include changes to the labeling and marking of some containers and new package sizes for dangerous goods in limited quantities.
