March against the Iraq War in Lower Hutt, April 5

Press Release

March against the Iraq War in Lower Hutt, 5th of April

Peace Action Wellington
28.3.2003

Peace Action Wellington is organising a march and rally against the War in Iraq in Lower Hutt, for Saturday the 5th of April. This will be part of an international day of action against the war of terror waged against Iraq by the ‘Coalition of the Killing’.

The March will start at 11am at the Melling Bridge end of the Riverbank Carpark in Central Lower Hutt. The march will then proceed through central Lower Hutt down Queens Drive. It will then carry on past the residence of the US ambassador. After this the March will then return to the Civic Center and finish at the park outside the Lower Hutt public library. Here there will be a few short speeches and other activities, including music from Brass Band ‘Brass Razoo’.

One of the reasons this event is being held at the Lower Hutt civic center is to protest against Lower Hutt Mayor John Terris outspoken support for this war of terror. Peace Action Wellington believes politicians like Mayor John Terris who support the policies of US imperialism need to be held accountable.

We urge all people who oppose this unjust war to come and support this event.
