Final chance to give the DCC a shakeup

Final chance to give the DCC a shakeup

STV Dunedin is reminding voters to ensure they send in their ballot forms in the city wide referendum on STV voting ending this week, after a positive response from the public so far. Votes must be with the Dunedin City Council by noon Friday.

"This is the final week for Dunedin residents to make a change to Single Transferable Vote and give the DCC a shakeup. We are encouraging people who have yet to vote to tick STV and get their ballot papers in the post by Tuesday or Wednesday this week to make sure their vote is counted," said STV Dunedin committee member Sam Huggard.

Mr Huggard said the response from the public so far has been good. "Many people have already told us that they have voted for STV, which is encouraging," said Mr Huggard. "We are telling them to make sure all their friends, family members and workmates have done so as well!"

Provisional results are expected from the City Council this Friday afternoon. STV Dunedin will be holding a results function at the Otago Polytechnic Student Centre on Friday afternoon, and will be available for comment as the referendum results come in.
