Kinleith strike

Production workers at the Kinleith pulp and paper mill at Tokoroa are about to go on strike over changes to their employment agreement.

Two hundred and ninety-two workers will walk of the job at 4pm today for 48 hours. Union advocate Mike Sweeney said that the procution workers were going on strike in protest at the company’s delays in concluding a new employment agreement

“Some company negotiators have gone on holiday but this is a 363-day-a year operation and the need for certainty around the terms of employment must take priority.”
