Alliance 2002 Conference

Saturday November 30th and Sunday December 1st

The Alliance is holding its 2002 Conference this weekend in Wellington. Originally scheduled for July this year it was postponed due to the early election.

Alliance members have had a number of local and regional meetings since the election to discuss the future direction of the Alliance and this will be a major part of the debate during the weekend. Also on the agenda:

Strategies for maintaining the G E moratorium: including contributions fro GE activist groups

The War on Terror: Presentation by Nicky Hager & Mike Treen

Welfare Benefits under the New Right: Presentation by Stephen Ruth (Wellington People’s Resource Centre)

Keeping the wages down: Presentation by Matt McCarten

Pay Equity: Presentation by Jill Ovens

Private/Public Partnerships: Presentations by Liz Gordon and John Shaw

Leader’s Address: Laila Harré

Elections of Leader, Deputy Leader, President, Alliance Councillors
