AUCKLAND DINNER TO HONOUR MIKE MOORE
Progress to achieve a NZ-US Free Trade deal will be highlighted in a special dinner in Auckland this Sunday to honour Mike Moore for his contribution to the World Trade Organisation.
The Prime Minister Helen Clark and US Ambassador Charles Swindells will lead tributes to Mike Moore for his contribution at the World Trade Organisation and in his new role as a Special Trade Envoy for New Zealand.
“It will be a very special night in acknowledgment of a very special New Zealander,” said Craig Norgate, Chairman of the New Zealand United States Council.
Washington-based Mr Fred Benson, the President of the United States New Zealand Business Council, will update on progress in Washington in support of a Free Trade deal with New Zealand.
“It is vital that the New Zealand business community take the opportunity to get a sense of the increasing momentum in Washington in support of a free trade arrangement,” said Mr Norgate.
Mike Moore will speak on the path forward on trade liberalisation.
Additionally, the evening will be a fundraiser to help support the NZ/US Council work with Mr Moore to secure an FTA with the US. “We cannot afford to leave ourselves out in the cold,” said Mr Norgate.
