Greenpeace open letter to Areva

Greenpeace open letter to Areva: Greenpeace challange Areva to debate

Jacques Emmanuel Saulnier, Senior Executive, Vice President, AREVA

Dear Mr. Saulnier,

My name is Bunny McDiarmid and I work for Greenpeace on the nuclear campaign. Our organisation is opposed to the activities of the company you represent because of the negative impact they have on human health and the environment and the serious risk they pose for nuclear proliferation. It is for these reasons that we are also opposed to your company’s use of the Louis Vuitton yacht race in New Zealand to promote Areva.

I believe it is disingenuous of your company to present itself as just an energy company when your activities and associations cover everything from mining interests to the development of Frances nuclear weapons programme.

When you were in New Zealand in February you told the media that you were interested and ready to debate these issues. I am therefore inviting you to do this. I understand that there are a number of media outlets that would be interested in such a debate.

Please let me know when you are available.

For a Nuclear Free Pacific,

Bunny McDiarmid Nuclear Campaigner Greenpeace NZ
