MAF response to PAM decision

Following today's announcement that the Cabinet had decided to proceed with a strategy designed to eradicate the painted apple moth, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) said that it was pleased to have the Government's continued support to eradicate this destructive pest.

"It is encouraging to see the Government's commitment to protecting New Zealand's unique environment and primary industry," MAF's painted apple moth project director Ian Gear said.

"MAF has assembled an expert team to manage a biosecurity response of this scale."

There will be a media briefing tomorrow (Tuesday 10 September) at 3.00pm at AgriQuality, 131 Boundary Rd, Blockhouse Bay.
