Please feel free to forward the listings below through your networks.
* Wellington, Wednesday 11 September
~ No NZ support for the 'war on terrorism' - presentation of the first signatures on the new national petition (and the final signatures on the previous national Petition calling for peaceful resolution), with speakers including Keith Locke (Green Party spokesperson on Foreign Affairs) and music from Brass Razoo. From 1pm to 2pm, on the steps at Parliament, all welcome to come and join us in saying no to terrorism and war. ~ 'Reflections on 11 September: Visions of a Peaceful World' with Hinemoana Baker (singer and writer), Rev Margaret Mayman (St Andrews on the Terrace), Tim Jones (author), Jan Logie (Executive Director, YWCA Aotearoa / New Zealand), Don Franks and Jill Brasell (folk singers), and Dr Ramon Das (Lecturer in Morality and International Relations, Victoria University). From 6pm to 7pm, at St Andrew's on the Terrace, 30 The Terrace. Organised by St Andrews on The Terrace, in association with Peace Movement Aotearoa, in response to the call from Peaceful Tomorrows for events around the world on 11 September which honour the universality of grief and the hope for a peaceful world. Peaceful Tomorrows is a US group comprising families whose relatives were killed in the 11 Sept attacks on New York and Washington; they "firmly believe that the real lesson of September 11 is that war and violence are the problems, not the solutions".
