No Creditable Evidence Of GE Material In Sweet Corn Crops
Heinz Wattie’s stands by its policy of providing products that do not contain GE materials, and says claims of contaminated sweet corn crops being grown and harvested are incorrect.
Accurate testing for GE materials relies on sensitive but exacting technologies. Following the finding of an inconclusive test result in late 2000, extensive further testing was undertaken by multiple accredited laboratories in different countries, and concluded there was no evidence of contamination.
There was full consultation at every step of the process with government officials, including the Ministry of Agriculture and ERMA, to ensure openness and integrity.
Heinz Wattie’s will continue to work with its growers and suppliers to give our customers confidence that our products do not contain GE material.
