ACTivist Rules Out Wellington Central

Published: Sat 1 Jun 2002 12:41 AM
ACTivist President Gavin Middleton has quashed suggestions that he will attempt to run as the ACT Party’s candidate for Wellington Central.
Mr Middleton confirmed that a variety of people had asked whether he intended to seek the party’s nomination since ACT Leader Richard Prebble announced he would not be contesting the electorate vote.
Gavin said “ACT has already selected excellent youth candidates. Paul King in Banks Penninsula and Willie Martin in Dunedin would make better MPs than any of the hacks and stooges offered by the other parties.
“My efforts are much better used supporting ACT’s candidates than trying to be one of them” Mr Middleton said.
