Millennium People pleased to have been vindicated

Media Release
20th May 2002

Millennium People director Wayne Ball said today, the company was pleased to have been vindicated by the State Services Commission report which investigated a) the engagement process for Millennium People Ltd to provide recruitment services to the Mäori Television Service Board and b) the extent of the use of Millennium People Ltd by Public Service Departments.

“The State Services Commission investigation found that 12 of 36 government departments and 7 crown entities have used Millennium People Ltd and there was no inadequacy of service delivery by this firm, “ Mr Ball said.

However, Mr Ball said that he was still concerned that the company had never been interviewed in respect of these matters by any party investigating the Davy issue as well as the length of time the Government was taking to release the various reports.

“The State Services Commission did not actually investigate the reference checks and indeed Mr Winteringham did not obtain any information on the adequacy of those checks from Millennium People Ltd.”

Mr Ball said he believes that the public will be able to draw the correct conclusions once all of the information in relation to the issues surrounding Mr Davy’s appointment is publicly released.
