Colour-Blind Electioneering

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Colour-Blind Electioneering

With electoral rolls being finalised ready for an early election, Libertarianz Hamilton West candidate Tim Wikiriwhi launched his election campaign by suggesting that Maori who don't realise that voting simply encourages politicians should at least take this opportunity to ensure they are on the General roll, and not the Maori.

Wikiriwhi, the Libertarianz spokesman for Deregulation of Maori Affairs, said that he is enrolled on the General roll - even though he is of Maori descent - because "I am an individual equal with the rest of my fellow Kiwis." "I hope," he said, "that other Maori choose to stand up for equality rather than for apartheid." Elections, he said, should be colour blind, "as should all politics."

Wikiriwhi said the absolute principle of the political equality of all mankind has been a hard-won lesson - one many people still struggle to come to terms with. "As a Maori who has learned the political concepts of rights, I can appreciate for myself the two-hundred-year journey of Maoridom from the most primitive tribalism and savagery to that of civilised modern man."

Colonisation brought to New Zealand the rule of law and the benefits of western civilisation, Wikiriwhi told his audience, which he for one celebrates. "Without colonisation, Maori would still be living in tribal viciousness."

He said with sadness that a great percentage of the Maori people have been deceived from grasping this "vital truth," instead believing "the lies of the socialists and their tribal leaders that some are more equal than others. That tribal savagery was somehow noble. That special ‘indigenous rights’ are somehow superior to all others. That state-sponsored racism is something other than patronising apartheid."

"I want the Maori people to learn the truth," said Wikiriwhi, "that they can have no real mana while they support this nonsense. They must reject it, or they will assist their own destruction!"

"One simple thing individual Maori can do to begin freeing themselves from the nonsense," he said, "is to withdraw their names from the Maori electoral roll, and register instead on the general roll. In so doing, they can at least begin to walk with their mana intact."

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
