Reserve Bank Governor Deserves Country's Thanks

Dr Murray Horn, chairman of the New Zealand Business Roundtable, said today that Dr Don Brash deserved the gratitude of the business community and all New Zealanders for his role as Reserve Bank governor.

"Dr Brash saw New Zealand into a period of low inflation to the great benefit of the country. His job has often been an unpopular one but he has advocated and implemented sound monetary policy with flair and skill. The wide political consensus in favour of the Reserve Bank Act is a legacy of his time as governor.

"Dr Brash had the courage to raise issues in areas where New Zealand is continuing to under-perform at last year's Knowledge Wave conference.
