Senior Management Appointments At The Ministry Of Economic Development
Liz MacPherson has been appointed General Manager of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, which is part of the Ministry of Economic Development, chief executive Geoff Dangerfield announced today.
She will join the wider Ministry’s senior management team responsible for advising the chief executive on the department’s strategic direction and corporate management. She will also be responsible for the effective management of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and for the quality of its policy advice and operational services.
“Ms MacPherson has considerable experience of working with the community to advance government goals, and will provide effective leadership for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs,” Mr Dangerfield said. Ms MacPherson is currently a manager within the Department of Labour’s market policy group.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is responsible for advising government on consumer policy and general product safety issues, providing information to help consumers and businesses to understand consumer legislation, administering trade measurement, and a range of related activities.
Roger Procter has been appointed as Director of the Ministry of Economic Development’s medium-term strategy group, Mr Dangerfield announced.
“This is a significant appointment, as the newly-established medium-term strategy group will undertake a research programme on significant issues and will provide strategic advice to the Ministry’s branches on key policy issues. It’s role is to focus on medium-term rather than day-to-day issues, and to provide intellectual leadership across our broad range of activities,” Mr Dangerfield said.
Roger Procter has had an outstanding career at Treasury, where he currently heads a team of senior staff working on cross sector social policy issues. He holds first class honours degrees in economics and mathematics, and masters degrees in business and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
