Young Nats Unearth Helen's Portfolio

Young Nationals today released another chapter in the "Paintergate" saga having unearthed more "Helen Clark pictures."

"Clearly Ms Clark has some fine artistic talent as we have found some high quality pieces of art with her "signature" proudly emblazoned on each," Grant Tyrrell commented.

"Without wishing to leap to conclusions we are not convinced as to the authenticity of the prints. The Mona Lisa and Last Supper are particularly suspicious. To allow the public to make up their own mind we have placed them on our website at www.youngnationals.org.nz.

"As the youth wing of the National Party we are concerned about the example set by politicians, particularly Ministers of the Crown and in this case the Prime Minister. Ms Clark's actions make her a lousy role model for young people. Can school children now have an 'error of judgement' around exam time and get someone else to sit their papers? Perhaps it is now OK for job applications to include a fake transcript or overstated job experience.

"To err is human, and even a Prime Minister is not immune. However as any young person knows it is best to face up to your actions, yet again Ms Clark provides a lousy example. Instead of apologising and waiting for the storm to pass she has further damaged her credibility by trying to deflect blame on anyone and everyone including the paper which broke the news, her staff, the artist and the opposition," Grant Tyrrell added.

"Young Nationals are convinced that her paintings are as fake as her coalition," Grant Tyrrell concluded.
