Greens Blow Smoke At Personal Freedom. Again.
"Why does Nandor think the State owns the bodies of
adult New Zealanders?" declared new Libertarianz Leader and
Tauranga Candidate Russell Watkins today. "Nandor Tanczos's
qualified support for the prohibition of Fantasy
demonstrates that the Green Party's claim that they stand
for individual freedom is just paper thin. Why is it ok to
grow and ingest marijuana but not Fantasy?" asks Watkins.
"It seems the Greens are just another bunch of fascist
killjoys."
Watkins claims there is no evidence that banning Fantasy and imprisoning those that voluntarily produce, sell, buy and consume the drug will do anything other than force it underground - "as they have with other illegal drugs," he says, "in which case prices will rise and gangs will get in on the act. Fantasy will still be consumed in substantial quantities across the country, except that it will be a "forbidden fruit" - all the more exciting for being banned. Those that buy it will have no recourse to laws protecting consumer's contractual rights; and there will be no readily obtainable information about it."
"It seems," says Watkins, "that Nandor Tanczos and his hemp-clad mates in the Green Party don't give a hand-rolled joint about people having sovereignty over their bodies. All they care about are votes for the cannabis lobby. The state still owns your body according to the Greens!"
"Libertarianz would legalise the production, distribution, supply and consumption of all drugs by adults, by acknowledging that human beings own their own bodies and have the sole right to decide what they ingest, and are fully responsible for the consequences of that ingestion. Libertarianz believe that criminalising people for consuming what they wish to consume is a disgusting violation of individual rights".
