Youth Radio Mulching Without Government Meddling
Libertarianz broadcasting deregulation spokesman Larry Timberlake today congratulated Tony Katavich, owner of Kaikohe's youth radio station "The Mulcher", for proving that such a business can develop and grow without Government meddling or taxpayer's money.
"Although this Kaikohe station may be small, it is a mouse that roars out that the Government is wrong to assume minority groups can never have a voice except at the taxpayer's expense. The existence of this station allows the Labour/Alliance broadcasting policy to be seen for what it is: a blatant vote-buying exercise. How else can one explain a taxpayer-funded radio network based on age-discrimination and a taxpayer-funded television network based on racial discrimination?" asks Timberlake.
"Broadcasting needs Government intervention," says Timberlake, "in exactly the same way as newspapers or magazines need Government intervention -- which is to say, not at all."
It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
