Skyhawk Appeal Dismissed

Published: Mon 25 Feb 2002 12:38 AM
The Save Our Squadrons Campaign has lost its appeal of the High Court decision striking out its legal challenge to the scrapping of the air combat force.
"The Campaign supporters will naturally be disappointed with the result" said Campaign convener Clive Bradbury.
"But they can take satisfaction from having been part of the few who have done their best to stand up against an undemocratic and short-sighted Government decision."
"As the Court of Appeal noted, the Government will be accountable for its decision at the ballot box. The Campaign will now ask supporters to commit resources to that end."
The Campaign now has 4,100 supporters and has raised funds totalling $208,500. The court proceedings cost the Campaign $62,000.
