Labour-Alliance Government Regulates Fun
"Joyless interfering busybodies" was how Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel Candidate Peter Cresswell described the introduction of the so-called 'Responsible Gambling Bill' by the Minister of Interfering-in-Everyone's-Affairs George Hawkins.
"This is a victory for the fun-hating Phillida Bunkle - no stranger to shirking her own responsibilities. It protects existing casinos from competition and regulates all non- government-owned gambling simply because a tiny minority can't manage their own finances and personal behaviour," pointsout Cresswell.
"People enjoy gambling as entertainment. Some make some money out of it, some don't, but it is their choice how to use their own money and leisure time - not Philida's and George's to make for them. This Labour-Alliance Government would clearly prefer you spent your leisure time watching tax-victim funded politically correct TV programmes about Hawaiiki than enjoy a night out unencumbered by government regulation.
"Libertarianz would abolish all restrictions on the establishment and operation of gambling facilities. Gamblers would be protected by common law protections against fraud, and assistance to gambling addicts would be funded voluntarily by those with a particular interest in the issue."
"We expect," concluded Cresswell ",that all Labour and Alliance MPs would give generously to any fund set up to voluntarily assist gamblers, given that they are so keen to force other gamblers and non-gamblers to pay for their therapy."
It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
