Grey Power On Proposed Retirement Villages Legislation
Dennis Paget (Spokesperson on Health), Violet McCowatt (Spokesperson on Social Services) and John Jefferson (Grey Power President) attended the launch of the proposed Retirement Villages Legislation.
Grey Power applauds the Government's moves to tighten up the legislation regarding Retirement Villages. We are also aware that to pass any legislation takes time. Time is of the expense when one becomes older and it is imperative that the opposition parties get in behind these changes and have the new laws passed without the usual "drama". People of our age cannot afford the luxury of long drawn-out debates, while some older persons' savings are being eroded.
Grey Power will support the present changes taking place in support of our older New Zealanders.
