Greenpeace resorts to mistruths – again

Unable to persuade the Government that it should take a fundamentalist position on genetic modification the multi-national environmentalist corporation, Greenpeace, has resorted to mistruths, again, to bolster its flagging campaign, the Chairman of the Life Sciences Network, Dr William Rolleston said this morning.

“Greenpeace representatives persist in erroneously claiming there have been serious breaches of field trial security in New Zealand. This allegation was made at the Royal Commission, and was rejected.

“The only significant breach of security involving a GM field trial in this country was caused by activists when the Wild Greens, of which Green MP Nandor Tanczos is leader, invaded a GM potato trial at Lincoln and destroyed it, proving the only threat to containment is from fundamentalists not from science.

“The other cases Greenpeace is fond of quoting never happened at all because there have been no recorded breaches of the strict security requirements set by the approving authorities.

“Greenpeace, the Green Party and their anti-GM friends were the only group of submitters to the Royal Commission who had to apologise and withdraw for submitting false testimony. They should stick to facts and forget their inventions, ” concluded Dr Rolleston.
