'Reckless' Doctor Punished By Revenue Camera

Libertarianz spokesman Dr Richard McGrath today endorsed the refusal of police to waive a revenue camera fine issued to a Northland doctor caught speeding on his way to an emergency.

"How dare this doctor exceed the speed limit while trying to save someone's life!" roared Dr McGrath. "Sure, a police car carrying cabinet minister George Hawkins was reported to have reached speeds of up to 140 km/h while on a joyride last week, but that's different. After all, George is a cabinet minister."

When asked how that makes any difference, McGrath's jaw dropped. "I am outraged that anyone could question the right for police officers and politicians to act outside the laws that the rest of us have to live by."

"In fact, I wonder whether this arrogant doctor ought to be struck off the medical register for his zeal in wishing to rush to an emergency. George Hawkins, on the other hand, deserves a commendation for bravery. He's an inspiration to us all."

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
