Diplomacy With Butchers Okay With Greens?

Diplomatic Relations With Butchers Okay With Greens?

Libertarianz Leader Peter Cresswell described Phill Goff's announcement that the Government has appointed the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to be accredited as Ambassador to North Korea as "No surprise, since the Government is already friends with the Chinese People's Liberation Army that slaughtered hundreds of students at Tiananmen Square."

Cresswell does however look foward to the Green Party - "those paragons of consistency" - to be using the chance that diplomatic relations presents to publicly share the Libertarianz' disgust at the abomination of labour conditions, civil liberties and brutal totalitarian government that exists in North Korea.

"The Greens campaign against inhumane working conditions and appalling labour conditions will no doubt be extended to campaign against the North Korean gulags where children of political dissidents work and die in slave labour camps," says Cresswell. "Let libertarians and Greens join the barricades together," he suggests - "or," he wonders, "will Greens find it difficult to protest against their authoritarian role models?"

"Will Sue Kedgley call for a boycott of goods made in North Korean slave camps? Will Keith Locke call for a boycott of PRK military fraternisation? Will Nandor Tanzcos call for North Korea to allow freedom of the press, freedom of speech, the right to protest and all the other "Western capitalist" freedoms they take for granted, and exploit here in New Zealand?

Or will they keep SILENT, because the world's most avowedly anti- capitalist, anti-individual, anti-consumerist totalitarian state is still better in their eyes than the multinational corporations that they despise?" asks Cresswell.

"2 million people are estimated to have been killed by this regime in its 53 year blood stained history, through executions and slave labour camps. For the people who protested against any relations with the evil apartheid regime in South Africa to want to be friends with Kim Jong Il and his cronies, is," concludes Cresswell, "the height of hypocrisy. I look forward to Kedgley, Locke, and Tanzcos proving me wrong."

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
