Libertarianz Relieved At Britomart Delays

Press Release Libertarianz Party Transport

LIBERTARIANZ RELIEVED AT BRITOMART DELAYS

"It seems when the Green Party are disappointed that the rest of us should celebrate," said Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel candidate Peter Cresswell. "In this case, road users and Auckland ratepayers should be relieved by Transfund's decision to not fund the Britomart transport monument, rather than "disappointed " as communist Keith Locke suggests."

"Most Aucklanders know Britomart is a complete waste of money. The Greens love spending other people's money for their fetish with public transport, no matter how few people use it. If the Auckland City Council cut rates and abandoned this grand scheme, then public transport companies could themselves invest in a terminal that would suit the needs of their customers, not the ambitions of local body politicians wanting something grand to open!" he said.

"The quarter billion dollar cost of this grotesque monument to central planning would more than pay for the critically needed upgrade of the Spaghetti Junction and Grafton Gully motorway links that are used by hundreds of thousands of Aucklanders every week," Cresswell concluded. "The road users pay fuel taxes and road user charges to improve the roads they use, not for grand monuments to the ambitions of counsellors. As long as these road taxes remain, at least they should be spent on roads instead of white elephants."

It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!
