GREENS SHOULD PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE MOUTHS ARE OVER AIR NEW ZEALAND
Libertarianz Leader and Coromandel candidate Peter Cresswell was outraged that the Green Party is not only trying to stop Singapore Airlines increasing its investment in Air New Zealand, but wants to coerce New Zealanders to invest in it through the Government. "If the Greens want greater New Zealand ownership of Air New Zealand, why don't they buy shares themselves and put their money where their taxpayer- funded mouths are, rather than wanting to force everyone else to do so?" said Cresswell.
"What the Greens would do with Air New Zealand is a mystery itself," said Cresswell, "since Jeanette Fitzsimons several years ago expressed concern about the growth in international air travel because it contributed to the so-called 'Greenhouse Effect'. Would she and Rod Donald force Air New Zealand to reduce the number of flights, therefore increasing fares?"
"A Libertarianz government," clarified Cresswell, "would immediately allow Singapore Airlines to purchase up to 49% of Air New Zealand - as this would not jeopardise the airline's landing rights in other countries. It would then renegotiate landing rights agreements with those countries to allow the remaining restrictions on the free trade and investment in international airline services to be scrapped" concluded Cresswell, who lamented that none of the Clayton's opposition parties were up to saying this.
"It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz," he concluded.
