2001 Federated Farmers National Council/Conference

The Federation in the Rural Community

The 2001 Federated Farmers National Council/Conference will be held at Rydges Hotel, Rotorua on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 July 2001.

The theme for the conference is The Federation in the Rural Community.

Following a whakatou by Ngati Whakaue, FFNZ President Alistair Polson will address the conference at 10:15am.

The Rt. Hon Jenny Shipley, Leader of the National Party will officially open the conference at 10:35am. Merepeka Raukawa Tait, CEO of the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges will address the conference at 11:30am.

The second day of the conference will feature presentations from Dr Klaus Ammann, Director of Botanical Garden University of Bern; Neil Henderson GM, NZ Post Distribution and Charlie Graham, GM Rural Bank of New Zealand. Guest speaker Sir Paul Reeves, Chair of the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust will address the conference at 1:00pm.

Members of the media who wish to attend should contact Gloria Hetherington on 04 473 7269 to register and obtain a full conference agenda. There will be a charge of $65 for the conference dinner.
