Mayday Christchurch Protest Report

About 50 people joined in a Celebrate Capitalism day today in Christchurch New Zealand.

Reclaiming Mayday 'from the lazy workers who are doing nothing with it' and with a call for Bosses of the world to 'Unite - you have nothing to lose but your expense accounts' the Reverend Jeremiah Lovebucks of the International Chuch of the Almighty Dollar urged passers by to 'spend more to help the poor'.

Unfortunately for the reverend the people of Christchurch didn't swallow his line that buying luxury goods helps the poor and that 'leaving it to the bosses' is the best way and sent him packing with a pie in the face.

They then urged people to go to a meeting to find out about the real history of Mayday and learn what's happening around the world on Mayday. Everyone then enjoyed a free meal provided by Food not Bombs.
