Dear Friends of Tibet
Join our ‘Rally for Human Rights’, Friday 8th December, outside the Chinese Embassy in Glenmore Street from 7.30am to 9am.
The Rally will be commemorating International Human Rights Day, which is a significant day for Tibetans. When Chinese troops marched on Tibet in 1949, Tibet was an independent state. Today China’s continued occupation of Tibet, with the help of several hundred thousand troops, represents an ongoing violation of international law and of the fundamental rights of the Tibetan people to independence.
The human rights of the Tibetan people are still being violated today.
It also marks the anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, which he received in 1989.
