National's 'Dubya' Desperate For Ideas

Published: Wed 1 Nov 2000 11:28 AM
"National deputy 'Dubya' Creech wants Wairarapa voters to figure out what his party stands for now, or so must be the reason for the survey he has sent Wairarapa voters," concludes Libertarianz spokesman Daniel Charlton. "Instead of running a popularity contest to decide National Party policy, let me recommend he repair to his own party's principles," he says.
Charlton offered to demonstrate to Dubya how Libertarianz apply the principles of individualism, small government and free enterprise that his party abandoned soon after they were written:
"He asks whether we should retain MMP, and how long the parliamentary term should be - both questions are irrelevant when governments are not tied up by a proper constitution."
"He asks whether we should become a republic; Libertarianz says yes, and it should be renamed the Republic of New Freeland - which will require some living up to!"
"He asks whether we should give more or less emphasis to the Treaty - Libertarianz would dump the outdated racist piece of garbage altogether."
"He asks about moving toward a single currency with Australia - Libertarianz believes the government should get out of the counterfeiting business altogether, and leave private banks to print their own currency based on tangible assets."
"He asks whether the various local District Councils should amalgamate - Libertarianz would dissolve them, abolish Regional Councils, and shred the Resource Management Act which currently empowers them."
"He asks whether competition should be removed from ACC - Libertarianz would put a stop to ACC altogether - along with other similar government monopolies - and throw the industry open to private agencies once again."
"He asks about repealing the Employment Relations Act - Libertarianz says the state should not be interfering in relations between workers and employers anyay, not unless one party uses force against another."
"He asks about raising taxes on those earning over $60,000. Doesn't he know that taxation is theft? Libertarianz firmly believe the IRD should be disbanded, and its staff left to discover what earning a living is all about."
"He asks about removing bulk funding from schools. We advise removing Big Government from schools. Give people back their stolen tax dollars so they can buy their own children a decent education, instead of the dumbed-down mind molestation they currently get from the state."
"He asks about reducing Housing NZ rents - Libertarianz would sell all government owned housing and remove rent controls. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidise luxury accommodation for others."
"Mr Creech and his party," says Charlton, "have reached rock bottom with this survey. To think they plan to use it as the basis for their next grab-bag of promises demonstrates once again the stunning lack of principle they showed so clearly in their last decade in government."
"They might as well survey two wolf and a sheep on what to have for dinner."
