Christian Heritage Members Are Funding Abortions!

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Christian Heritage Members Are Funding Abortions!

Libertarianz health deregulation spokesman Richard McGrath said the Christian Heritage Party should come clean and admit that most of its membership are sponsoring abortions in New Zealand. "Despite Gael Donoghue's vilification of abortionists and certifying consultants, both she and others in her party are bankrolling, from their taxes, the termination of pregnancies up and down the country every day."

Dr McGrath said today the Libertarianz party supports the introduction of the so-called 'abortion pill', RU-486, but not its funding by govt. "Using this pill could save many women the trauma of an induced surgical abortion," he said. However McGrath believes that along with the right to seek an abortion comes the obligation to cover the cost of the procedure. "It is repugnant that many people in the Christian Heritage Party, and others who are members of SPUC, are forced to pay for abortions, contraceptives and perhaps now for the RU-486 pill."

Libertarianz totally opposes the organised extortion of private wealth at gunpoint (income taxation) and its diversion into the failing public health system. "Politicians have no right to invest stolen tax money into funding abortions or any other sort of health care. This money should be left in the hands of the people who earned it. The cost of abortions should be covered by the women who use that particular service, and by others willing to contribute out of a sense of charity."
