A Sow Crate for Kedgley?

Libertarianz Deputy Leader Richard McGrath today suggested that Sue Kedgley and her fellow Green MPs should have their overstuffed seats in parliament replaced by sow crates.

"Ms Kedgley was pictured at Parliament Buildings yesterday sitting in a sow crate," he said. "I think it really suits her. Unlike the pig, Ms Kedgely can turn around inside the crate. She can stand up in it. She can even lean against the front rail and deliver speeches from it. Cups of tea can be passed through the walls of the crate and it is well ventilated. What more could she ask for?"

Dr McGrath mused at the irony of Green MPs sitting in parliament on seats covered in the hides of slaughtered animals. "Assuming the sow crate is made from timber harvested using sustainable logging techniques, wouldn't it be more appropriate for Ms Kedgley to use the low-tech animal-friendly option?"

McGrath added that MPs from other parties might find the sow crates useful. "Marian Hobbs shouldn't rule out getting into one," he said. "Her attention does seem to wander at times. Perhaps a spell in one of these crates would allow her to sharpen her act up after what has been acknowledged everywhere as a very poor start to her term as a minister."
