Rank outsiders go off the rails in election race
Truth was a
casualty early in the running of the Election Stakes when it
was bowled over by the two rank outsiders in the
field.
Labour spokesperson on sport Trevor Mallard takes up the commentary.
"Given their lack of pre-race form, rough tactics were to be expected from the race longshots Prebble and Peters.
"But it was a shock to all race-goers when Prebble and Peters forgot all about getting to the finishing post. They whipped up a bizarre argument about who had the inside running on why the Bendon factory had closed.
"As usual they were both all over the track and there was no room for Truth to make a run.
"Peters, by Lack of Substance, out of Luigi, is a flashy lightweight. Prebble, by Far Right, out of Stuff the Workers, has shown consistent form in the Misleading Stakes.
"But in the race that really matters, both failed the dope-test and Truth was the big loser."
