Don't Expect Any Favours From Winston
"Unless their names are Doug, Peter or Ron, New Zealand First candidates shouldn't expect any favours from Winston when their list is announced," Mauri Pacific Leader Hon Tau Henare said today.
"History shows us, and Michael Laws has admitted as much, that it was he and Winston that drew up the list last time. It won't change this time around only Michael has been replaced by Doug, Peter and Ron - the three amigos," he said.
"Every time Winston says Jenny is going to be number 20, the three amigos go ‘hey! And do a pirouette. Gilbert, number 21- hey!’
"There will be no favours, in fact, I'll take a stab in the dark and predict Winston's already got the list scribbled on a piece of paper waiting to produce as a fait accompli.
"It'll be a Winston and Sarah job and the problem they'll be having to deal with is what to do with the Maori boy. Do they give him his deserved place at number two, or do they just put him in his place at five or six.
"There's a culture of paranoia and mistrust within the party. The paranoia being if they place the Maori boy too high will it send 'Winston's people' in a spin.
"The mistrust being that Winston won't trust anyone but himself and his personal aid to be able to put a list together that they can sell - rather than one based on merit," said Mr Henare.
