“ALLIANCE HAS LOST ITS CREDIBILITY WITH THE ELDERLY”
New Zealand First Leader, Winston Peters, has told the
Alliance to stop being apologists for the lack of action
over a sound superannuation plan by its Accord partners,
National and Labour.
“Jim Anderton left pensioners in the lurch when he signed the Superannuation Accord with National and Labour. New Zealand First refused to sign it– and later got the iniquitous surtax dropped.
“The Alliance stood by and watched as successive governments robbed billions of dollars from the pockets of the elderly. Mr Anderton also did not lift a finger when he was part of the Labour government which first imposed the surtax.
“The elderly remember what politicians do – not just what they say. They know that New Zealand First is the only party with their interests at heart,” said Mr Peters.
